State radio gets political

by Tyler Kirk

When you hear of a band writing songs about political imperfections and governmental shortcomings, do you think of State Radio?
My point exactly.

State Radio’s second album, Year of the Crow, seems as if it only contains songs about their hatred for our country’s faults.

I really enjoy the soft reggae sound that they’re good at expressing in tracks like “The Story Of Benjamin Darling, Part 1” and “Fight No More.” These tunes are both good to chill to.

Although the sound is pleasing to the ears, it just isn’t enough to take away from the hidden meanings.

It’s obvious State Radio isn’t my cup of tea – and that George Bush isn’t theirs – but with some lyric tweaking and little less screaming, this rock band will find fortune and fame.

My advice for State Radio? Leave the governmental bashing up to Green Day. They’ve been there, done that, and I must say, they’ve done it much better.
