Habighorst's love of singing pushes to pursue broadway dreams

By barbara jean

Everyone has a passion for something. Some are lucky enough to have talent to pursue it as a career. Sophomore Kaylie Habighorst is one of those people. She has a passion for singing.

“Singing is a good way of expressing yourself, it’s easy and pretty much anyone can do it, Habighorst said”

Though she is talented in singing it still takes time and hard work for Habighorst. She is involved in many different singing experiences at school. She sings at her church and is in a group called the Pat Holt singers, which is mainly a group of teens who loves to sing and perform all over. She is involved in Triple Trio, Treble choir, Solo ensemble, and made Knightsound for her junior year.

“I’m very excited for Knightsound,” Habighorst said. “It’s the highest choir so it’s a big deal and the group is so amazing, I can’t wait to be apart of it.”
Habighorst still remains close with her family and friends and tries to keep time to have fun.

“Kaylie has something almost every night that helps her become a better singer,” sister Kelsey Habighorst said. “I wouldn't say it has affected our relationship in any way though.”

So many people support and help Habighorst with her singing. Her family is always there along with her voice lesson teacher and Ms. Smith the choir director at FHN.

“Kaylie is very talented, said Choir director Loraine Smith.” “She is outgoing and personal, a great leader and works well with people, and has great stage presence for Broadway.”

After High school she plans to go to a college in Kansas City to pursue her singing talent.

“I would like to be on Broadway,” Habighorst said. “But when I get older I want to settle down with a family and just be happy and be able to relax, so probably music education more as I get older.”

“I don't want to be famous,” Habighorst said. “I don't want people talking about me. I want my life to be private.”

People think Habighorst is talented enough to take it to to the top and just keep moving forward with singing as she grows up. And we at FHN can say
“Hey, I knew Kaylie before she became famous.”
